Afghan Women: A History of Struggle

an evening with the director, Kathleen Foster

The documentary captures the resilience and courage of women who risk their lives on a daily basis to stand up for their rights and examines the drafting of the Afghan Women’s Bill of Rights by women from across Afghanistan at a 2003 conference in Kandahar. The women look at their struggle for equality in the context of the country’s tumultuous political history over the past thirty years, and describe the many challenges women continue to face today in Afghanistan.

Please join Peace Action of Staten Island, Military Families Speak Out, First Central Baptist Church, Unitarian Church of Staten Island, Pax Christi, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Veterans for Peace, Film Fest Reloaded and other community groups and residents from neighborhoods all over Staten Island to demand an end to this war and occupation. on this day to demand an end to this war and occupation. 

All over the country, peace activists are mobilizing to demand that our troops come home now, on this 5th anniversary of the illegal invasion of Iraq  www.5yearstoomany.org . We will gather to have our voices be heard in our own community where religious leaders will join us to denounce the continuation of death and destruction.
