Alert #187  November 25, 2008
Dear Peace Advocate,

Every week we ask you to spend 5 minutes for peace. Your voice, in the form of letters, phone calls, and delegations to your elected leaders is vital. Without it, the peace movement would not have the political capital to generate change.

But, as with all things, the success of the peace movement depends on monetary contributions as well. Peace Action's work can only be done with your support.

Thanksgiving marks the start of the holiday season, a time to gather with family and friends. You may not have the time to be as active in your peace work as you would like, but wouldn’t it be great if you could support Peace Action New York State in another way?

Thanks to Goodshop.com, you can give the Peace Action Fund of New York State your financial support, but it won’t cost you a dime!

How to use GoodShop:
  • Decide what you want to buy off the Internet. When you know exactly what you want and where you want to buy it, you are ready for GoodShop.com.
  • Go to www.GoodShop.com.
  • In the box below the gray "WHO DO YOU GOODSHOP FOR?" button, write “PAFNYS" or "Peace Action Fund of New York State” and click the yellow "Verify" button at right.
  • "Peace Action Fund of New York State - PAFNYS (New York, NY)" will appear in the box. Below it you will see a list of different online merchants that participate in GoodShop. Below the name of the store, you will see what percentage of your purchase will be donated to PAFNYS. If your chosen store isn’t listed, search for it in the "Search for a Store" box in the left sidebar.
  • GoodShop will automatically redirect you to the homepage of your selected online retailer. Find your item and buy it for the exact same price as you otherwise would have paid. Coupons, discounts, gift cards, etc., all apply.
More than 800 top stores, from Amazon to Zappos, are listed with GoodShop. Better yet, these retailers are now offering money-saving coupons and free shipping offers. Almost every online merchant can be accessed through GoodShop.com.

Most retailers give PAFNYS a donation of approximately 3% of the sale, but it can be up to 20%. Cheryl raised $10 just buying a small gift for her nephew, and you can do the same. Through goodshop.com, we have the potential to raise money in a very easy way. Even $1 or $5 here and there builds up. It doesn't cost anything extra and you can get exactly what you need!

For your five minutes for peace this week, we ask you to support PAFNYS by using GoodShop.com to do your online holiday shopping. Please ask your family and friends to do their online holiday shopping with GoodShop.com too.

Building a peace movement is critical today and your support is vital. Help us build the peace movement and support our work to change foreign policy and fund human needs, not militarism.

Thank you for everything you do, and Happy Thanksgiving.

In Peace,

Mai Gad
