Sign the petition for a nuclear-free world

Dear Peace Activists and Friends,

This week we wanted to highlight one of the many successes our chapters have recently achieved. The Broome County chapter of PANYS has recently posted a large electronic sign on City Hall in Binghamton, NY. The sign displays the staggering cost that every taxpayer must shoulder so that our country can continue its wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan. New York State taxpayers have already given $67 BILLION to support the war in Iraq. The efforts of our chapters are truly laudable, as this is the first sign of its type to ever be put up in the United States. Already, the sign has gained the attention of local news stations and countless passerbys.

"Since the initial announcement back on April 14, we have received tremendous support from people near and far," said Sue McAnanama, the project's Outreach Coordinator, "including many veterans who know the cost of war all too well." Thanks to that tremendous support for the exhibition, the sign will stay in place until the end of July in the hopes that the display will encourage civil dialogue on what the country should be focusing such as education and healthcare, rather than unnecessary wars.

You too, can help spread awareness of the staggering financial and human cost that the long years of war have exacted. Add your voice to the 811 people who have already signed the Broome County petition supporting the Cost of War sign. By clicking here, you can help us reach our goal of 1,000 signatures by the end of July.

Peace,

Justin Lee
